Your habits shape your future.

In my world, habits have a specific structure. They’re built as if-then statements, so they’re easy to adopt. You identify a condition or trigger, then follow through with a meaningful action.

The following is my list of habits for cultivating joy.

1. When you feel nonresistance to the moment in your body, take time to re-regulate.

Notice when stress or frustration builds, and pause to recalibrate your emotional state and open your moment.

2. When you open your phone, ask yourself, “Will I feed my brain a nutrient or a poison?”

Consciously choose content that uplifts and inspires rather than drains or distracts you.

3. When something bad happens, ask yourself, “What is the silver lining?”

Finding a positive perspective doesn’t erase challenges but helps you move forward with resilience.

4. When you face the urge, practice delayed gratification.

Pause before indulging and set a timer. Alternatively, engage in a healthier, more rewarding activity.
